Autres Brésils
Founded in Paris in 2002 by Brazilian and French activists, researchers and journalists, Autres Brésils is part of a political, social and cultural initiative to strengthen ties between Brazil and France. Building bridges between social, ecological and democratic struggles, Autres Brésils is as a conduit for experience, knowledge and resistance. Its mission is to give a platform to the social and political dynamics at work in Brazil, in particular those driven by popular movements, politically active intellectuals, artists and human rights defenders.
With its website, the association gives its French-speaking public a varied and critical reading of Brazilian society, with the aim of deconstructing stereotypes and valorizing marginalized voices. The issues addressed - social justice, indigenous rights, rural workers' struggles, deforestation, extractivism, feminist and anti-racist resistance - resonate with contemporary debates in France and Europe.
Autres Brésils is also active in the cultural sphere, and since 2005, its annual festival Brésil en Mouvements has established itself as Europe's leading event devoted to politically active Brazilian documentaries.
